Limavady sits in County Londonderry's Roe Valley between Binevenagh mountain and Lough Foyle, a market town of 12,000 with the River Roe running through it. The A2 connects you to Derry 27km southwest and Coleraine 24km east, while longer trips reach Belfast via the A6 and A37. This is where Jane Ross transcribed the Londonderry Air in 1851 after hearing a traveling fiddler, the melody that became "Danny Boy." A bronze plaque on the main street marks her exact house, and you'll find traditional architecture with independent shops throughout the town center.
