Most visitors fly into Tingwall Airport or ferry to Lerwick, with the drive taking about 45 minutes through moorland. The settlement sits near Sand and connects to scattered western communities via single-track roads. Views stretch across to Papa Stour, inhabited continuously for over 5,000 years.
