Lee Head lies on the Derbyshire-Greater Manchester border, reached via the A57 from either Sheffield through Glossop or Manchester via Hyde. The village sits in elevated terrain above the Etherow Valley, with the A628 Woodhead Pass providing an alternative route through typical Peak District countryside. The Longdendale Trail, a converted railway path following the valley's chain of reservoirs, passes directly below the village.
