Leasingthorne is a former County Durham mining village positioned between Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor. Access comes via the A688 or local roads from Kirk Merrington, with the A1(M) fifteen kilometres east for longer journeys. The preserved colliery Pithead Baths, now housing Elemore Auto Parts, retains its original Victorian boundary features.
