Leamside is a former pit village in County Durham, sitting on the A690 between Durham and Sunderland. Most visitors arrive via the A690 from Durham city centre or the A1(M) at Junction 62. The village lies on the route of the old Leamside railway line to Sunderland, with sections of the original embankment still visible through the housing estates.
