Lanercost is a small Cumbrian village near Hadrian's Wall, reached via the A69 through Brampton. The 12th-century priory ruins, built from distinctive red sandstone, remain the village's centrepiece, with the medieval nave still functioning as the parish church where Edward I once lodged during his Scottish wars.
