Knowe is a small Galloway settlement on the A75, about 13km from Newton Stewart. The area sits between the Machars peninsula and Galloway Hills, with regular local traffic to Newton Stewart and longer journeys via the A75 to Dumfries or Stranraer's ferry ports. The name derives from the Scots word for a small hill.
