Knocklyon is a residential suburb perched in the Dublin Mountains foothills, 12 kilometres south of the city centre. The M50 Junction 13 at Sandyford gives the most direct access via the R113, though many locals prefer the N81 through Tallaght route. Daily commuters typically use the R116 from Rathfarnham or local roads from Templeogue and Firhouse. The area connects well to Dublin's road network, making it handy for both M1 and N11 traffic. The Knocklyon Shopping Centre's distinctive clock tower, built in the 1980s, serves as the area's main landmark.
