Knipoch lies 11 kilometres south of Oban on the A816 coastal route through Argyll and Bute. Most visitors arrive via the A82 from Glasgow then the A85 west, whilst locals use shorter connections to nearby Kilninver and Kilmore. The area offers roughly 13 public EV charging points for those exploring the west coast. The name derives from Gaelic "Ceann Iochdar," meaning "lower headland."
