Kirkurd is a small Borders village on the A701 between Edinburgh and Peebles, about 35km south of the capital. The scenic route winds through the Pentland Hills, connecting to the A72 via West Linton. At over 300 metres elevation, it's one of the highest villages in the region, offering expansive countryside views on clear days.
