Kirkmaiden occupies Scotland's southernmost tip on the remote Rhinns of Galloway peninsula. Reach it via the A77 to Stranraer, then the A716 through Sandhead before joining local roads through rolling farmland. The nearest town is Drummore, just two kilometres away, whilst the dramatic Mull of Galloway lighthouse lies seven kilometres south. The community centres around Kirkmaiden Parish Church, which houses remarkable carved stones dating back over a millennium.
