Kirkconnell sits along Dumfries and Galloway's Solway coast, connected by the scenic A710 coastal road. Most visitors arrive from Dumfries, 15km northeast, whilst the A75 provides links to wider Scotland. The village lies near Sweetheart Abbey's romantic 13th-century ruins in neighbouring New Abbey.
