Kippford is a small Solway Firth village reached via the A710 coastal road from Dumfries, about 25 kilometers away. The scenic route passes through gentle Galloway countryside before reaching this sheltered harbor settlement. Local visitors often arrive from nearby Dalbeattie, whilst longer journeys connect through the A75. The harbor completely empties at low tide, leaving boats stranded on mudflats until the water returns.
