Killeshandra sits on the shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan, surrounded by the drumlin hills that make this part of the midlands so distinctive. The N3 from Dublin connects through to the northwest, with the R198 branching west at Butlersbridge to bring you straight into town. Local roads include the R201 south to Cavan town and the R200 northeast toward Belturbet along the lakeshore. The weekly livestock mart draws farmers from across the northwest every Thursday, making it one of Ireland's most important cattle markets for over a century.
