Kilkea is a quiet County Kildare village along the River Griese, about 65 kilometers from Dublin via the M9 motorway at Junction 3. The R418 connects it to Castledermot and Athy, while the R724 links to Carlow for easy day trips. The village serves as a base for several golf courses including those at Carlow Deerpark and Rathsallagh. Kilkea Castle, built in 1180, is one of Ireland's oldest continuously inhabited castles and now functions as a luxury hotel and golf resort.
