Kilcock

Kilcock is a handy market town in County Kildare, about 40 kilometres west of Dublin along the Royal Canal. Take the M4 to Junction 7, then the R148 north for a quick run into town. It's perfectly placed for trips between Dublin and the west, with good links to Maynooth and Enfield nearby. The town serves as a grand stopping point for golfers heading to the K Club or Carton House. Lock 12 on the Royal Canal still works as it did in the 18th century, with its original limestone and cast-iron bits intact.
