Kilchoman occupies a windswept corner of northwestern Islay, reached via the A846 through Bridgend and then local roads. Most visitors fly into Islay Airport (15km away) rather than brave the longer ferry crossings. The settlement hosts Kilchoman Distillery, established in 2005 as Islay's first new whisky distillery in over a century.
