Kells

Ireland

Ireland

Kells sits about 67km northwest of Dublin just off the M3 motorway, making it handy for day trips or exploring County Meath's historical sites. The town grew around a monastery founded by Scottish monks in 804 AD and gave its name to the famous Book of Kells manuscript. You can walk between the heritage center in the old courthouse and the ancient round tower in minutes, taking in the elaborately carved high crosses and St Columba's House along the way. The medieval street layout is still intact, and there's good electric vehicle charging throughout the area.
