Ixworth lies in central Suffolk, connected by the A1088 to Bury St Edmunds and the A14. Most visitors arrive via the A14 from Cambridge or London, then head north through Bury St Edmunds. The village sits amid typical Suffolk farmland, with RAF Honington nearby adding military aircraft overhead. The impressive 12th-century priory ruins dominate the village centre, their Norman stonework still standing after 900 years.
