Istead Rise is a Kent village between Gravesend and Rochester, reached via the A227 from the A2. Most locals nip to Gravesend for the station or pop over to Bluewater for shopping, whilst longer trips head west toward the M25 at Dartford. The village sits on a gentle rise above the Thames marshes, with typical Kent countryside rolling away in all directions. It's just three miles from Cyclopark, the cycling venue that hosted Commonwealth Games events.
