Iochdar lies on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, reached via the A865 which runs the length of the Western Isles. Most visitors arrive by ferry to Lochboisdale then drive 20km north, or fly into Benbecula Airport nearby. The settlement sits amid the distinctive machair landscape where fertile coastal plains meet the Atlantic, with approximately 4 EV charging points serving the area. Road signs here appear in both Gaelic and English, reflecting the island's living Celtic heritage.
