Inverurie lies 16 miles northwest of Aberdeen via the A96, serving as a market town where the rivers Don and Ury converge. The A96 provides the main route from Aberdeen (30 minutes) and continues toward Inverness, whilst the A920 heads west to Huntly. Aberdeen Airport sits 12 miles southeast.
