Inshes forms part of Inverness's southeastern suburbs, well-connected by the A9 to Perth and points south, plus the A96 towards Aberdeen. Local routes via the Southern Distributor Road link it efficiently to the city centre and Inverness Airport nearby. The area developed as the Highland capital expanded, with over 30 EV charging points serving the wider district. The name derives from Gaelic "inis," meaning island or meadow, recalling the marshy valley floor before modern development.
