Inkpen sits high in the West Berkshire downs, offering lovely countryside views from its elevated position. Approach via the A4 through Kintbury or from Newbury on the A343 and B4009. The village lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by ancient woodlands and chalk downland. Walbury Hill nearby is Berkshire's highest point at 297 metres, crowned with an Iron Age hill fort whose earthwork ramparts remain remarkably intact.
