Hyde lies in eastern Greater Manchester where the Pennines begin to rise, making it a natural gateway to the Peak District. The M67 motorway provides the main route in, connecting to Manchester's M60 orbital, whilst the A57 Hyde Road offers a direct link to the city centre through Gorton. Popular local runs include the quick hop to Stockport via the A560 and the scenic drive into Derbyshire along the A628 through Mottram. The town's Victorian market hall from 1884 still hosts traditional markets three days a week.
