Hoxa sits on South Ronaldsay, reached via the remarkable Churchill Barriers built by Italian POWs during WWII. Take the A961 across the causeways after the Gills Bay ferry, with local routes connecting to Saint Margaret's Hope 4km north. The settlement overlooks Scapa Flow, offering superb views of this historic naval anchorage. The barriers link four islands and include the famous Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm.
