Howe occupies rolling Caithness farmland 15 miles south of John o' Groats, reached via the A99 from Wick. The A9 from Inverness provides the main long-distance route for visitors, whilst local roads serve neighbouring farming settlements. The parish church houses several Pictish stones found in surrounding fields.
