Hosta occupies North Uist's western shore in the Outer Hebrides, reached via the A867 from Benbecula Airport (15km) or cross-island from Lochmaddy ferry terminal. This Atlantic-facing crofting settlement sits amongst the machair grasslands typical of the Hebridean coast. A wartime concrete slipway at Hosta Beach remains in use by local fishermen today.
