Hope Valley cuts through the Peak District's heart, where limestone dales meet gritstone moors in spectacular fashion. The A6187 runs the length of the valley, connecting via the A57 Snake Pass to Manchester and Sheffield, whilst the A625 provides the main route from Chesterfield and the M1. The Snake Pass itself draws touring drivers and bikers for its dramatic mountain crossing. Local routes include the B6049 and various minor roads threading between Hope, Castleton, and surrounding villages. Electric vehicle drivers will find over 40 fast chargers dotted throughout the area. The valley houses Britain's only underground boat trip, deep within the Blue John Cavern.
