Hook is a small East Devon village near the Somerset border, surrounded by rolling countryside and linked by quiet lanes to nearby Chard and Chardstock. The A358 provides the main route through the area, with the A30 trunk road 15km south for longer journeys. St. Giles Church houses a remarkable 13th-century wooden screen with original painted medieval saints still intact.
