Holmethorpe is a small Surrey settlement near Redhill, easily reached via Junction 8 of the M25 onto the A217. The area sits between the North Downs and Weald, with Gatwick Airport 10km away. What makes it notable are the former sand quarries, now flooded to create lakes that attract migrating birds and serve as a local nature reserve.
