Holburn occupies a quiet spot along the A1 in rural Northumberland, roughly 8km from the coast and surrounded by the rolling countryside that characterises this part of the Borders region. The A1 provides the main access route, whilst local B-roads connect it to nearby villages like Chatton and Belford. The area sits within sight of several medieval pele towers, those distinctive fortified farmhouses that served as refuges during the centuries of border warfare.
