Holbear lies in Somerset's gentle countryside near the Devon border, connected to the A30 via Chard, 2km south. Long-distance visitors arrive via the M3/A303/A30 from London, whilst locals use smaller roads linking to Forton, Tatworth and other nearby villages. Electric vehicle drivers will find over 40 fast chargers in the area. The town's name comes from an ancient earthwork that resembled a sleeping bear.
