Hodgefold lies in the Longdendale Valley between Manchester and the Peak District, accessed via the M67 and A628 trans-Pennine routes. The A57 Snake Pass provides a scenic alternative, whilst local roads serve nearby Broadbottom and Charlesworth. The area forms part of the historic Longdendale Chain reservoirs, Victorian Manchester's ambitious water supply system.
