Higherfence lies just outside Macclesfield in the Cheshire hills, reached via the A523 or scenic A537 Cat and Fiddle Road. Manchester Airport is 20km southwest, with over 70 EV charging points locally. The name derives from an ancient boundary fence marking medieval field limits, traces of which remain visible in today's field patterns.
