Higher Change occupies a valley position in East Lancashire's Pennine foothills, accessible via the A681 from Bacup or through winding local roads from neighbouring mill towns. Long-distance visitors approach via the M65 and A646, whilst locals use the B6238 for short hops to Greave and Sharneyford.
