Highclere lies in Hampshire's chalk downland, about 6 miles south of Newbury via the A34. The village is famous worldwide as the setting for Downton Abbey, filmed at Highclere Castle. Take Junction 13 from the M4, then head south on the A34. Local roads connect through Woolton Hill to Basingstoke and the M3. The 17th-century castle sits in grounds designed by Capability Brown, with over 1,000 acres of parkland surrounding the estate.
