High Ham perches on slightly higher ground within the Somerset Levels, a flat agricultural region crisscrossed by drainage channels. Access comes via the A372 to Bridgwater and the M5, or from the A303 trunk road to the south. The village sits amongst a network of small settlements connected by narrow country lanes. High Ham's medieval church tower dominates the skyline, visible for miles across the surrounding flatlands.
