High Dubmire is a former mining village in County Durham, positioned between Sunderland and Chester-le-Street. The A690 provides main access, connecting to Sunderland 6 miles northeast and Durham 8 miles southwest, whilst the A1(M) motorway lies 4 miles west for longer journeys. Local routes include the B1284 to Houghton-le-Spring and A19 for north-south travel. The village retains original miners' terraced housing with distinctive 1920s arched doorways.
