Herringswell is a small Suffolk village near Newmarket, reached via the A11 and local roads through Red Lodge. Most visitors come from Cambridge (35km) or use connections from the A14, while locals travel short distances from Newmarket or Mildenhall. The village sits in typical Breckland countryside with sandy soils and scattered woodland, close to the American airbases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath. St Lawrence Church houses an exceptional 15th-century carved wooden screen, regarded as among Suffolk's finest medieval craftsmanship.
