Hebburn lies on the Tyne's south bank in South Tyneside, easily reached via the A194 from the A1(M) or A185 from Newcastle. The A19 and Tyne Tunnel connect to the airport and North Tyneside. This former shipbuilding town sits on flat riverside terrain with Metro links at nearby stations. St. Andrew's Church houses a remarkable 14th-century stone knight effigy.
