Headford sits 25 kilometers north of Galway city on the N84, perfectly placed between Lough Corrib and Connemara. The town makes a handy base for exploring the west, with good connections via the N84 to Galway and Mayo, plus the scenic R334 along Lough Corrib's shore. There's decent electric vehicle charging about town for longer trips. The weekly Thursday market in the town square has been running since the 1600s, still drawing farmers and locals from miles around.
