Hawling is a small Cotswolds village perched on elevated ground between Northleach and Stow-on-the-Wold. Access is via minor roads from the A40 or A436, with the A429 Fosse Way providing the main long-distance route. The village sits amongst typical limestone countryside with good connections to popular spots like Guiting Power. The Norman church of All Saints houses remarkable 12th-century wall paintings discovered beneath old whitewash.
