Hawkhead is a residential area in Renfrewshire, just southwest of Glasgow and easily reached via Junction 28 of the M8 motorway. The A737 provides connections to Ayrshire, whilst local roads lead into Glasgow city centre about 15 kilometres away. Glasgow Airport sits only 8 kilometres northwest, making it particularly convenient for air travellers. The name derives from old Scots, meaning "hawk's headland," referring to the elevated ground where raptors once nested.
