Hatston is a small settlement on Orkney Mainland, two kilometres west of Kirkwall along the A964. It's perfectly placed for exploring the islands, with Kirkwall Airport nearby and ferry connections at Stromness. The area overlooks Scapa Flow, the historic naval anchorage where the German fleet was famously scuttled after the First World War.
