Hacketstown is a handy market town in County Carlow where the N81, R747, and R725 meet, making it a natural stop between Dublin and the southeast. Sitting 200 metres up, it's got a grand spot for taking in the surrounding countryside. The town serves dairy farming country well, with about 10 fast chargers for electric cars around the centre and along the N81. Three golf courses nearby draw weekend crowds from Dublin, and the Saturday farmers market in the main square is brilliant for local produce and proper brown bread.
