Gumley is a small Leicestershire village reached via the A6 through Kibworth, about 12 miles south of Leicester and 6 miles from Market Harborough. The M1 lies 8 miles west for longer journeys. St Bartholomew's Church houses remarkable 13th-century wall paintings depicting Christ's life, discovered during 1960s restoration work.
