Guildiehaugh is a small West Lothian community near Bathgate, reached via the A89 from the M8's Junction 4. It's part of the central belt's network of former mining settlements, now quiet residential areas within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The name comes from the Scots "haugh," meaning level ground beside water.
