Greyabbey lies on the Ards Peninsula about 20 miles southeast of Belfast, built around 12th-century Cistercian abbey ruins. Most reach it via the A20 from Newtownards, which links to Belfast through the M22. The village sits between Strangford Lough and the Irish Sea, enjoying mild maritime conditions. The abbey was founded in 1193 by Affreca, wife of Norman lord John de Courcy.
