Green Head

Green Head lies along the A689 in upper Weardale, County Durham, between Stanhope and Eastgate in the North Pennines. The route continues west toward Alston or east to Bishop Auckland via the A68. Most journeys are local movements between dale villages, though tourists use this road to reach the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The settlement takes its name from the prominent grassy hill overlooking several converging valleys.
